Henrietta Stickland (married name Henrietta Paul) is a children’s book author who says “She has been creating children’s books for thirty years…Her best-known work, Dinosaur Roar! has roared into the hearts of millions of children all over the world.” Her less well-known work is as Company Secretary (since May 2023) of the notoriously violent and criminal Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt (BSV), where she is listed on Companies House under her married name Henrietta Susan Paul (NB the address given in the attachment is the correspondence address for the BSV). Her current husband Steve Paul (@cowsfeet on X, who she married in June 2019) was the BSV’s terrierman when he pleaded guilty to assault after throwing urine into the face of a female hunt saboteur in 2023 (he claimed it was water, but was ordered to carry out 80 hours of community service, pay £150 compensation and CPS/victim support costs: he had previously received a caution for the same offence). Ms Stickland/Paul’s association with the BSV appears to go back many years: Companies House lists her as a Director of the Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Company Ltd between June 2004 and March 2006 (the same listing also notes her as Director of publishing company Ragged Bears). It all puts the quote in her bio that “When not writing from her home on the Somerset-Dorset border, you will find her in her organic garden, riding horses or walking her dogs through the beautiful countryside” into a very different context.” Unless she is also foxhunting with the BSV, Ms Paul isn’t doing anything illegal – but we do have to wonder what the fans of Dinosaur Roar and her other stories would make of her support for such an appalling hunt?
