An extremely large company with a number of subsidiaries, “Heathpatch Ltd was formed in 1997 as a reinvestment relief company, to invest in farmland as a distinct separate entity to land already owned and farmed by the Buckle family…Heathpatch has continued to expand, buying adjacent land as it has come onto the open market. It also purchased the original farms, from the Family, in return for shares. In 1990 James Buckle returned to Suffolk and took over the running of the farm.” Anyone who has searched for ‘Suffolk’ on this site will immediately recognise the name ‘Buckle’ and the family’s close connections with the Suffolk and Essex Hunt (until at least the 2024/25 ‘season’ the hunt boasted one James Buckle – who set up Heathpatch – as its Master), including hosting the hunt on the Nedging Hall Estate and at two of their pubs – The Bilderston Crown and The Lindsey Rose.
