The village of Wansford is taken over on New Years Day by the Fitzwilliam Hunt. A number of venues seem keen to open their doors to anyone who still attends events in support of hunts, and the Haycock Manor Hotel is foremost amongst them. Lincs Online noted on 4th  January 2024 that “The hunt rode into the village and stopped at The Old Barn behind the Haycock Manor Hotel for people to meet the horses, hounds and bird of prey.” It also noted that in a poll they ran “Out of the 2,270 voters, 83 per cent believe hunts should not meet at Christmas while 16 per cent were in support of the tradition.” In May 2023 the Fitzwilliam’s Shaun Parrish was fined after being caught on camera fox hunting.
