Ancestral seat to the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne and the childhood home of the Queen Mother, “nestled in the heart of Angus, Glamis Castle is blessed to be situated in some of Scotland’s most spectacular countryside…”. Anyone who has used our website before will know what almost always follows ‘most spectacular countryside’ (and royals, thinking about it): killing the local wildlife. And on a page titled “Country Sports” we get to the big sell to gun-toting tourists (who frankly are utterly spoilt for choice when it comes to ‘where to kill wildlife in Scotland’ as the country falls over itself to guzzle down slice after slice of shooting industry pie): “With 14,000 acres of spectacular landscape, Strathmore Estates is well placed to host an exciting range of country sports on the land.” In other words putting holes into various species of birds and deer. The ‘nobility’ and wildlife, rarely a good mix in our experience…
