“Traditional Family Run Pub located in the historic Hill of Skryne.” The branding of Fox’s Lounge is (perhaps not surprisingly) a jovial and smartly-dressed fox. That cynical advertising really sticks in the craw when you learn that the landlord, Declan, “hunts with the Ward Union Hunt and, on the walls of both pubs, there are images of hunting and horse racing.” The pro-hunt Irish Field wrote in January 2026 that Fox’s is “a shrine to equestrianism. Its walls are a gallery of photos and Andy Lynch’s red hunting jacket hangs on the wall. Andy whipped into the Ward Union for 30 seasons…His son Michael is huntsman of the Goldburn Beagles. There are signed photos by former champion jockey and near neighbour Paul Carberry taking on a fence way out on Morcelli…And images of the Meath Hunt, the Ward Union and the Tara Harriers.” Fox hunting is still legal in Ireland and the likes of ‘Declan’ will have a LOT of fox blood on his hands…
