“At the beginning of April, we celebrated taking on the ownership and management of The Fox & Hounds, a historic village pub at the heart of Acton Turville. The occasion was marked by the Duke of Beaufort, who poured the first pint and welcomed staff, residents, and visitors.” So wrote the Badminton Estate, the home of the notorious and unpleasant Beaufort Hunt (whose Senior Hunt Master is of course pint-puller Henry John FitzRoy Somerset, aka the 12th Duke of Beaufort). Not content with featuring in exposés about so-called ‘trail hunting ‘ on Channel 4 News, the Beaufort, famously the ride of choice of the then Prince Charles and his – ahem, ‘close friend’ Camilla, has been extending its fingers into the ‘local community’ by opening up a pub and a local store (which we have also featured). Pro-wildlife folk will – we suspect – give both a very wide swerve…
