“The Dundrum Inn is set in an idyllic location, in Dundrum, Co. Down, Northern Ireland. Step outside and you’ll be swept away with the coastal views of Murlough Bay and the scenic stature of the Mourne Mountains.” Dundrum was named the best place to live in Northern Ireland in March 2025 by the Sunday Times, and the Inn has excellent reviews. We share the sadness, then, of Northern Ireland says “NO” to Animal Cruelty (NISNTAC) who noted that the Inn’s social media had – amongst other posts apparently in support of hunting – promoted an appearance by the East Down Hunt at a National Hunt meeting at Downpatrick Racecourse (the hunt tends to favout the previously-listed Tryrella Racecourse, where they have held point-to-point fundraisers for six decades). NISNTAC wrote that “This is a business we have personally supported for their dog-friendly premises and vegan items on their menu but unfortunately they are now on our boycott list until it is clarified as to why their page has liked a foxhunting group’s posts over a period of months…There is nothing dog-friendly or animal friendly about fox hunting.” Hunting is – shamefully – still legal in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and comments below NISNTAC’s post echoed their sentiments.
