Listed in the ‘voted for by the shooting community’ Good Shoot Hotel Guide Awards 2023, which ‘seek to honour those pubs and hotels that are particularly well suited to hosting teams of guns’, according to hunting and shooting website Scribehound, the Dryburgh is “run by a family with a 50 year country sports history”.  Its menu includes “plenty of game dishes”, and the “hotel boasts a swimming pool (perfect for sharpening the senses on the morning of a shoot) and a sauna (perfect for resting aching limbs once the day’s shooting is done), as well as a drying room for soggy gear”. On top of all these amenities for any poor soul with a weary trigger-finger, “the staff and owners know how to cater for shooting and fishing guests”. The mind boggles…
