Downham Cider (Norfolk)

Downham Cider says on its website, “Join us for a refreshing cider or beer, delicious local street food on the second weekend of each month, and exclusive cider tours! Whether you’re here to relax, grab a take-out drink, or explore our cider process, we’ve got something for everyone.” Presumably car drivers are limited to just a taste and are offered bottles for sale to take home – oddly though when the West Norfolk Foxhounds turned up in January 2025 there appeared to be no such restraint’ on view. What on earth might the consequences of that be? Norfolk/Suffolk Hunt Sabs were on hand and reported that, “What happens when you drink port at 11, cider at 1 and whatever “fizz” is on offer at 2:15? You take a while to realise you didn’t secure your horse and it’s taken off down the public highway and ran out of a T-junction onto a sharp bend only about half a mile from the A47.” So now we know. We almost expect hunts to be irresponsible and swill down alcohol whenever they get the chance, but where was the Downham Cider management team while the hunt was there…?
