“My films,” says Dave Carrie, a prolific YouTuber who creates videos of people killing birds, “are watched all over the world…foreign shooting visitors are increasing year on year…I get contacted every single day by foreign shooters wanting to experience the type of shooting I do.” So not only does Mr Carrie promote his own wildlife killing here, he promotes it to shooting tourists from overseas too. Mr Carrie talks about losing an eye aged eleven to ‘a sniper using an air rifle from his bedroom window”: an unpleasant experience we obviously wouldn’t wish on anyone, we just wonder why it didn’t trigger any empathy at all towards the wildlife he now routinely shoots…Mr Carrie has quite the (small) empire according to the listing on Companies House, including Kids on Pegs Ltd (which aims to get children into shooting birds), Mytum and Selby Waste Recycling, and The Maltings Organic Treatment Holdings Ltd.
