Clashganny Organic Farm (Co.Waterford)

Members of the Organic Trust, “Richard and Sheila Galvin have been growing their tasty organic eating apples for nearly 20 years in their organic orchards near Portlaw, Co Waterford. They supply delicious eating apples to many loyal customers around the country. They also grow organic oats for Flahavans and organic rape seed for Second Nature Oils in Kilkenny.” What many of those ‘loyal customers’ didn’t know until an Irish Council against Blood Sports Facebook post in March 2026 was that Richard Galvin was listed in the 2025 Irish Field hunting directory as the chairperson of the Waterford fox hunt, with a contact email address which points to Clashganny Organic Farm. He has been involved with hunting for decades. At the time of an anti-hunt protest at the Waterford Foxhounds St Stephen’s Day meet back in 2006, Richard Galvin was then the hunt secretary. In 2008 both Galvins were photographed at a Waterford Hunt Ball. A link on the Flavahans website says that “When he’s not busy on the farm, he likes to go horse-riding…”. But it’s not just ‘riding’ is it…fox hunting is still (shamefuly) legal in Ireland, and the Waterford terrorises foxes twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
