While the invite depicted a fox hunt in full chase, it knowingly branded the event as a ‘countryside ball’ – thus admitting that the ‘trail hunting’ argument has been dead and buried and that ‘hunting’ is now utterly toxic to anyone outside of an ever-dwindling band of supporters. South Hampshire Hunt Saboteurs posted that “The hotel currently denies all knowledge of the ball taking place on their premises. Therefore we believe they either have been lied to or they are supportive of the hunt and are covering for them…” Not a good look, really, is it…
