“The Cat & Custard is a traditional English pub and Italian Chalet located in the heart of the Cotswolds.  It is a stone’s throw from Tetbury, Highgrove and the Westonbirt Arboretum, making it the perfect location to dine with and accommodate friends and family.” And also making it the ideal location for a meet of the Beaufort Hunt, which is based down the road at Badminton and within easy riding distance of Highgrove Estate, the ‘private residence’ of King Charles III and Queen Camilla who used to ride with the Beaufort. As reported by Cirencester Illegal Hunt Watch on Facebook, the Beaufort met at the Cat and Custard Pot in November 2024. Their report highlights (with numerous images) the ‘hunt havoc’ these hunts are routinely causing, saying that “Hundreds of them gathered behind this pro-hunt pub in the middle of the village…The long procession started immediately blocking the lanes… They were followed by at least 100 riders, supporters on foot, cars, bikes, not to mention the quad bike support…We find it hard to believe that this large event can be taking place without prior warning or probably risk assessment, to general members of the public and especially out of respect for the young lady Gracie, who lost her life last year, falling off a quad in the same village.” Another excellent report of the same meet by Wiltshire Hunt Sabs is also linked below.
