“Carnell Estates is home to a stunning 14th century tower and historic and luxurious mansion house hidden within beautiful, prize-winning gardens and over 2000 acres of parkland in Ayrshire, Scotland.” With a pheasant as a logo (a species non-native to Scotland and only present because birds are intensively-reared to be shot), it’s perhaps not surprising that the estate “can be rented for exclusive use including corporate think tanks, product launches, bespoke wedding parties, golf groups and shooting.” Across huge areas of Scotland shooting birds dead is now no different to playing golf or hosting weddings and venues are queuing up to get their hands on the blood business of selling huge numbers of birds to kill to tourists: “we can offer 5 drives of between 200 to 500 birds usually four drives in the morning and one and sometimes two in the afternoon after lunch.”
