Carden Arms (Cheshire)

“One old fashioned village pub, one un-modernised mixed livestock farm… like they used to be… Trying hard to honour the past in a fast moving world.” Those innocuous words take on a very different meaning in the light of this ‘old fashioned’ pub hosting the notorious, unreconstructed, and distinctly old-fashioned Wynnstay Hunt. No ‘honour’ in that, in our opinion. Cheshire Monitors state that the Carden Arms “used to host the Wynnstay many years ago but haven’t since, until now.” Trying to stand right where you were years ago seems a very odd choice given that the vast majority of us have seen through the ‘smokescreen’ of so-called trail hunting and support for animal abuse has plummeted in recent years. There are plenty of alternative venues in local villages that pro-wildlife folk might like to try instead…
