“The Bull & Heifer is a small but vibrant country pub in the heart of the village Bettws Cedewain, Nr Newtown. Down in the footer you will find an ‘affiliation’ with Bettws Hall. It does weddings too, but its primary business is rearing and shooting birds (the largest ‘game’ breeder in the UK they raise 1.7 million non-native Pheasants and Red-legged Partridges a year for the gun).” The Bull is located in the same village as Bettws Hall, and while the Bull’s own website doesn’t make it clear, CAMRA does, saying that the pub – as you might suspect – is owned by Bettws Hall. Their blood-spattered fingers are all over the place in other words. Spend at the pub, and you’re helping support the slaughter of thousands of birds by the shooting industry…
