A popular wedding venue, “Buckminster is a forward-thinking organisation responsible for the stewardship of land and buildings in and around the villages of Buckminster and the town of Grantham.” ‘Forward-thinking’? There will be those who disagree given that Buckminster Estate owns most of the land around Sewstern, Gunby and Wymondham (Leicestershire) which is all land used by the notoriously violent Cottesmore Hunt as regularly noted by (amongst others) Locals against the Cottesmore Hunt and Northants Hunt Sabs. The Cottesmore Hunt was on Buckminster land the day the Northants Hunt Sabs windscreen was smashed by thugs from the hunt (see link below). How does fox hunting align with their statement under ‘Farmed Environment‘ that “Buckminster Farms adopt modern-day farming practices while managing the land in a way that benefits and enhances wildlife”? Or the fact that in 2018 an estate gamekeeper who kept a fox captive in a brick shed  (for release to the Belvoir Hunt this time) was found guilty of an animal welfare offence? Gamekeeper? Yes, Buckminster has a long-established shoot – for which very few details are online…if anyone can fill in the gaps, please get in touch.
