Owned by the Marchioness of Linlithgow (a Peerage created in 1902), Bryngwyn is “a privately owned historic family house and estate, offers luxurious accommodation for shooting parties, Simulated Game days, wedding receptions, house and garden tours for groups, garden workshops, private parties, corporate hospitality, team building events or product launches.” Leading with ‘luxurious accommodation for shooting parties’ would appear to make it clear where the Marchioness’ priorities lie. Indeed, while the Estate promotes Clay/Simulated Shooting that (again) would appear only to offer practice for the people she’s really talking to: under ‘Shooting‘ Bryngwyn Hall is described as a shooting estate, and close to an alphabetical list of local shoots (Bettws, Brigands, Llanarmon, Llanforda, Llangedwyn, Llechweddygarth, Long Mountain, Maesmawr, Old Long Mountain, Plas Dinam, Powis Castle, Ridgeway, Rorrington, Sweet Lamb, Three Valleys, Tyn Twlch & Vaynor Park) which is a perfect representation of the vast numbers of birds being killed in the name of ‘sport’ in this part of the UK, killed by a generation of (mainly) men who clearly see ‘shooting’ as no different to hiking, cycling, or playing golf…
