Broomhill Grange says they are “Breeders of Quality Hunting and Sports Horses”. They also say “We regularly hunt with Readyfield Bloodhounds, which chase β€œthe clean boot”. In other words a runner lays the scent without dragging anything, just their own body odours…” Broomhill also hosts hunt meets of a more ‘traditional’ type though. In December 2024 Nottingham Hunt Sabs found the South Notts Hunt heading to Broomhill “in Grove and Rufford country, for a day of publicised trail hunting. They’d pushed this meet on both their website and Facebook in a bit to get new riders to stump up seventy five quid for the privilege of watching bewildered hunt staff try and hunt trails (a practice of which they have very limited experience).” Despite ‘trail hunting’ sabs report that “the hunt still managed to let hounds spill onto the busy A6075 where one of them was hit by a car.” Lincoln Hunt Sabs held a protest at “the Grove day of indoctrination at Broomhill Grange” in the same month.
