The Carmarthen Hunt traditionally meet outside the Guild Hall in Carmarthen before working their way onto Lammas Street. They typically stop outside the Boar’s Head where they have long been assured a welcome by owners Bill and Meinir Hunter – as the Herald Wales happily reported all the way back in 2018 when they wrote “At the start of the Meet in Lammas Street the riding members of the Hunt gathered outside The Boar’s Head Hotel where the owner, Meinir Hunter, and her staff passed around glasses of warm punch (known as stirrup-cups) and sandwiches to sustain the riders before they set off.” Activists (who sent us the attached image from the 2023 meet) tell us that there are more “photos around of the Police actually tidying up broken glass for them” and dogs fouling the street. Nice to see the police getting involved…
