Home to the Capel Cure family, “Within the historic setting of Blake Hall and its stunning private gardens, we are proud to offer you the beautifully restored 17th century barns and surrounding areas for your exclusive use for weddings, wedding receptions and other special occasions.” Given that the Capel Cure family was intimately associated with fox hunting in Essex during the 19th and early 20th centuries, it’s perhaps little surprise to learn that Blake Hall offers the ‘historic setting’ for weddings AND for meets of the notorious Puckeridge and Essex Union Hunt (as reported as recently as February 2026 by the East Herts Sabs). Blake Hall was long known for shoots as well, the Director of the wedding business Rachel Capel Cure, lightheartedly describing killing birds to The Field magazine in 2012: “There’s a lot of banter and it is very much a family affair. It usually ends up with about five people on each peg. I’m sure the chaps would dispute this but some of the girls shoot as well if not better than their other halves.” Good to know.
