Bettws Hall in Mid-Wales fully embraces killing birds: it is a shoot, a breeder of birds to shoot, and somewhere for shooters to stay. It does weddings too, but its primary business is rearing and shooting birds (the largest ‘game’ breeder in the UK they raise 1.7 million non-native Pheasants and Red-legged Partridges a year for the gun). They specialise “in facilitating high pheasant and partridge days that will never be forgotten by providing challenging game shooting in beautiful countryside” and are one of the very few breeders in the UK to have ever been locked down for an Avian Flu outbreak. The shoot leases land from Lady Eldrydd Lamp who runs Plas Dinam, a huge Powys estate that advertises itself as a wedding venue.
