The website of Beaufront Castle leans heavily on the Weddings, Wellness retreats, Cottages, and Airbnb rooms side of the business, saying for example that “The Castle offers 8 bedrooms sleeping up to 16 guests and 6 bathrooms” and references a Billiards table and “the large terrace to the rear of the property where sweeping views of the Tyne Valley can be enjoyed in warmer months.” Rooms are £1800-3000 per night. Oddly, there appears to be no mention whatsoever (and we searched the entire site in Feb 2025) of the large pheasant shoot that is also run out Beaufront – “Days of 250-300 birds from 4 to 5 drives is usual with loaders organised. The Estate produces top quality birds with a bird for everyone depending on individual capabilities.” We can only assume that the owner, who lives in one half of the castle while renting out the other half, might not want potential clients to know – at least not without searching through various pro-shoot websites like Guns on Pegs, or scouring more obscure Instagram feeds of the likes of Slingley Gundogs…Beaufront isn’t the only venue listed on bloodbusiness.info that emphasises its ‘normal’ business while ‘hiding’ bird killing on an industrial scale, but it always rankles when we find or are alerted to them…
