A Foundation Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) run for the “benefit of the inhabitants of the parish of Appleton”, Appleton Wiske Village Hall in Northallerton is hosting a fundraiser for the Hurworth Hunt in March 2026, featuring a chat between former jockey Bob Champion and his “close friend Howard Thompson“, a former Master of the Cleveland Hunt. Imagine the stories, the ‘good old boy’ recollections of killing foxes for fun and life before the ‘antis’ ruined everything. North Yorkshire is blighted by wildlife crime, so it’s perhaps not surprising that even small venues like this are so tone-deaf – but a supporter asked us to flag their village hall for keeping the hunting flag flying, so we have.
