“Nestled in the Scottish Highlands, Alvie and Dalraddy Estates offer a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, with activities such as clay pigeon shooting, fishing, photography and cosy cottages/apartments amid stunning natural beauty.” Hmm. This is grouse moor country, but there is no mention at all about killing grouse on their family-friendly website. Hang on though, what is this on the homepage: “We provide various activities catering to all interests, from thrilling adventures like zip wires and clay pigeon shooting to leisurely pursuits like archery, horse riding, and nature walks. Field sports, fishing, and red deer/squirrel photography opportunities are also available.” Field sports? Indeed. on GunsOnPegs a different version of the estate emerges for the gun-toting crowd: “Alvie is a 13,000 acre traditional sporting estate situated on the edge of the Cairngorm National Park…Our driven grouse shooting includes 5 drives per day with an expected bag of 40 brace.” The supporter who emailed in about Alvie told us that they have “walked across this estate and there is more biodiversity on the moon that this upland desert…”
