There is very little online about Riverstick – it’s a small village south of Cork and halfway between Cork and Kinsale, named after the River Stick which flows through it apparently. There is even less about Allen’s Bar – its already deathly quiet Facebook page hasn’t been updated since 2020. Neither would have found their way onto bloodbusiness.info were it not for yet another pro-hunt article (with the nauseating title of “HUNTING: ‘What a wonderful and privileged way of life’ “) in the pro-hunt The Irish Field. The February 2025 article was about a meet of the South Union which “hunt the very sought after country bordering the Great Atlantic Way”. Fox hunting is still (shamefully) legal in Ireland, and in it we are told that the meet was at Allen’s Bar and that “the connection with the hunt is strong as proprietor Eamonn Kelleher hunted the pack for over 20 seasons and his grandaughter…was out on her couloured and going well.” On the day foxes were terrorised by a pack of 25 dogs. Wildlife abuse is clearly a family affair down there in Riverstick…
