Alec’s Restaurant (Essex)

“Alec’s Restaurant Bar & Grill opened in 2010 and has established itself as one of Essex’s leading fish Restaurants. Attracting customers from near and far, Alec’s prides itself on quality ingredients and exceptional service.” We can’t say whether the service is ‘exceptional’ or not but it appears to be generous – someone from the restaurant routinely bringing drinks out to meets of the Puckeridge and Essex Union Hunt in November 2024 as seen in the attached image and as reported by Hertfordshire Hunt Saboteurs who said “if you want to enjoy a pint in a pub that’s not serving fox hunters then go elsewhere.”  The hunt is kenneled just a 30-minute drive away in Dunmow, and was formed by the collapse of a number of local hunts. It was given a Community Protection Notice in July 2023 by Hertfordshire Police for anti-social behaviour and their hounds were filmed by Hertfordshire Hunt Saboteurs marking a badger sett in front of Essex Police, also in November 2024.
