Abbey Sporting (N Yorks)

While Helmsley-based Abbey Sporting has gained a reputation for offering simulated ‘game’ shooting (clays etc), the Directors (or ‘players’ as the web page URL describes them) have a history of live target shooting and say they “have developed strong relationships with a large number of the most exclusive sporting estates in the UK”. They even offer to arrange shooting Rock Pigeons in South Africa. Incredibly the African Rock Pigeon is increasingly being offered to British shooters as ‘the new grouse’ and “an unbelievably exciting bird to shoot”, and Abbey Sporting states (to shooters who likely will have no clue what these wild birds even look like) that it’s not just the Rock Pigeons they can look forward to – “doves consist of about 40% of the total bag and constitute Cape Turtle Doves and Laughing Doves, as well as the large Red Eyed Dove.”
